Visiting
a church for the first time can sometimes be an intimidating experience. Sure, there
may be smiles and friendliness going on all around, but until we feel that we
are a part of what is going on, it can be
somewhat uncomfortable.
Hopefully we can take some of the uncertainty out of your first visit to The
Chapel and give
you an idea of what to expect.
The
Chapel in North Canton is a non-denominational, Bible-believing
church. We are a Chapel Consortium church with our beginnings in The Chapel in
Akron. Our history as a local church dates back to 1985.
Our present facility is
located in a suburban area of North Canton, Ohio. Worship services are at 9:00 am and 10:30 am on
Sundays, with adult, youth and children's Sunday school programs during both of
these times. We also have nursery/child care facilities available for ages
infant through 3 years.
When
you first enter the building
main entrance, greeters are there to offer you a warm handshake. While they
are able to answer many questions that you may have, detailed information can
be found at the Welcome Center, just next to the main sanctuary entrance. Here you can get specific information regarding child care, Children's
Ministry classes, Youth Ministry (Jr./Sr. High) services, adult
Sunday school classes (called Adult Bible Fellowships, or ABFs), and
information on other ministries The Chapel has to offer.
Entering
the main sanctuary, a friendly usher will offer you another handshake as well
as a bulletin. The bulletin contains information on upcoming church events, an
insert with the outline of the morning's sermon message, as well as a form that
can be filled out and submitted if you wish more information about the church.
Worship
services begin with a musical prelude, followed by the pastor's welcome
message. Then we share a time of singing worship songs, as well as special
musical offerings by a soloist, the adult choir or both. This is followed by
the pastor's message, preaching and teaching both the relevance and application
of Scripture in our daily lives. Our services will go about an hour in length.
We
do not pass an offering plate at The Chapel. Instead, we have offering boxes
located just inside the three entrances to the main sanctuary. As a visitor, please do not
feel obligated to participate in the offering, as it is intended for our
regular attenders and members.
The
times following the worship services are often a bustle of activity. Please don't get the impression that everyone knows everyone else; it sometimes only
looks that way! Members of the pastoral
staff are typically on hand to greet folks and introduce themselves
following the morning services.
We
look forward to your visit to The Chapel in North Canton!
