“Give Thanks”
“Thanksgiving” is a good word and a good holiday we just
celebrated, but why should I be thankful? I believe that
question has come to us all at one time or another. Let me see
if I can help with an answer: While we were yet sinners, Christ
died for us. Even though we did not love God, even hated Him, He
loved us and gave Himself for us. We do things that hurt Him and
don’t do the things He asks of us. Yet He never leaves us, nor
forsakes us.
And when
we fail to praise and worship Him, when we are angry at what we
are going through and blame Him, when we think He doesn’t care
about our pain, or when we feel alone and believe He has
abandoned us, He is the friend that sticks closer than a
brother. He has never, nor will ever, forsake us. He wants only
the best for us and His desire is that our joy may be full.
As the
song writer put it:
When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll.
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,
“It is well. It is well with my soul.”
So in this Thanksgiving & Christmas season, and for the rest of
our days, let us enter into His gates with thanksgiving and into
His courts with praise. Be thankful unto Him, and bless His
name. Let us love Him with our words, our deeds, our time, our
praise, and our possessions.
Why?
Because He first loved us.
In His Love,
Paul Casto
