With the
last days of fall slowly fading and the chill of winter just around the corner,
this is a great time to reflect and have a quiet time to meet with God alone.
If you don't already have a quiet time now is a great time to start. We should
follow the example of Jesus who "Very early in the morning left the house
and went to a solitary place where he prayed." (Mark
1:35)
Christians may (and ought to) pray anytime and anywhere, but we cannot do it
well without a special time and place to be alone with God. Some of us find
that early in the morning is not an easy time to pray. Our minds may be
preoccupied with what we have to do in the day ahead of us. I, however, find
early morning is one of the best times when I am fairly sure that I won't be
interrupted.
Whatever our schedules or preferences may be, we need to diligently search out
and find that quiet place and arrange to pray and be alone with God each and
every day.
During our quiet times we should also be still before God and allow Him to
speak to our hearts. It should be a time to not only ask for things, but to
adore Him and thank Him for His many blessings. We read that our heavenly
Father actually looks for people who will worship him in spirit and reality.
God is looking for worshipers. Must He always have to go to a church to find
them, or might He find diligent saints, in ordinary homes, kneeling or sitting
before Him in their quiet time? May all of us be challenged this season to
prioritize our time alone with God each day.

Christ,
