Dear
Friends,
As
John
3:16 says, God so LOVED the world that He gave His only Son so a
sinner like me could live forever with Him.
We
hear it; we read it; we should believe it. God does love us and we
need His love each day. Of course, God gives us more than just love,
there is wisdom, forgiveness, correction, understanding, patience...
and the list goes on. but I want to just dwell on what it means to
have God's love.
If
we take Mr. Webster's view, love is an active desire to cherish,
treasure or care about others. These are true statements from a human
view but God takes His love to a much higher level by loving
unconditionally - no strings. He will love me when I fail Him, forget
Him, or even not listen to Him. How long will He do this? FOREVER!
How
does one return such love? One way is to do what He asks. The best way
for us (me) to love God is to honestly love others, care about others
as God cares about me. Be a helper, a listener, a friend; not a fault
finder, judge or name caller. Always build someone up, never tear
down.
The
Chapel is a great church, full of great people who love God. This is
good but we can do better. I can be better. So let's take the
wonderful love God has for us and develop an attitude of caring and
loving for each child of God. Let us be helpers, listeners, a friend.
I know we are a friendly church. I hear it all the time. How wonderful
for people to also know we are a church that loves God and loves each
other. God bless you. Pray for The Chapel body.
In
Christ,
Pat
Jones
