It is
appropriate from time to time, due to the many new members and
regular attendee’s we've been blessed with over the past few
years, to share some information on the Benevolence Fund, a
vital ministry of The Chapel.
"Let us
do good to all men, and especially to those who are of the
household of the faith."
Galatians 6:10
Some years
ago the leaders in our church, in an act of obedience,
established the benevolence fund for the purpose of providing
material assistance to those in need within our church family.
The Deacon Board has the responsibility of
stewardship of this ministry, and in every circumstance we are
mindful that we are stewards of the Lord's provision as we make
decisions regarding the use of this fund. We have specific
monetary parameters to guide us in the management of the fund,
and will only take a collection on an as-needed basis. Those
collections will almost always be taken on a communion Sunday,
unless some special circumstance necessitates one be taken.
We are very thankful for the faithful financial support of our
congregation who give beyond their tithe to this ministry.
When a need comes to our attention, we are set up to react
expeditiously.
Should you or your family ever have a situation where we may be
of help, please make that known to your deacon or the church
office. If the need meets the fund criteria, we will respond in
a discreet manner.
"If
anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but
has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him?"
1 John 3:17
In Christ,
Dave Phelps
