Ephesians
3:14-21
A
traveler in Germany saw an unusual sight in the tavern where he stopped.
The landlord put a dish of soup on the floor and gave a loud whistle.
Into the room ran a cat, a dog and an old raven.
All four went to the dish without disturbing each other.
After they were finished eating the cat and dog laid in front of the
fire while the raven hopped around the room.
None of them tried to hurt any of the others.
The traveler thought if these animals can be trained to get along,
surely brothers and sisters should be able to do the same.
Sadly,
however, families are too often characterized by disharmony.
When that is the case, we do well to model our prayers for our family
after Paul’s words.
Pray
that:
-
your
family may be “rooted and established in love.” God’s love can help us
be patient and kind with one another.
-
each
member of your family would be able “to grasp how wide and long and high
and deep is the love of Christ”
for them.
-
each
family member would “know this love that surpasses knowledge.”
Taking
Action:
-
Make
a point of telling each family member that you love them.
-
Do
something to show a member of your family that you love them.
-
Hugs
are therapeutic. Your family
member will be better expressing love if they receive at least one hug a
day. GET TO WORK!
In
Christ,
