From the August/September, 1998 edition of The Doulos monthly newsletter by Ray Fryan Are you connected? Today this question would likely be followed by a discussion about the Internet, your online service and the speed of your computer modem. We have become "connected" through technology in ways that a short time ago nobody thought possible. Pagers and cellular phones have become electronic leashes that keep us within reach of our workplace or family. Telephones, answering machines, voice mail, e-mail, direct mail, cable TV, and the Internet make our world much more "connected" to information than ever before. Yet a common lament of our electronically connected society is the lack or "connected-ness" of people to people. The contemporary evangelical Church has not escaped this problem. The ministries of The Chapel in North Canton provide opportunities for ALL of us to become connected and build relationships with fellow Christians. Worship services, Adult Bible Fellowship classes, Home Group Bible studies, topical theme studies (Pastor Robinson's Prepared to Answer series), Deacon Care Groups, 180 Youth Ministries, AWANA children's ministry, Sunday Spectacular, and Children's Worship are just some of the opportunities available. The real "connected-ness" we all long for comes through serving (John 13:15-17). Jesus tells us that He is the vine, we are branches, and His will for us is to bear fruit for Him (John 15:5). As we serve in His power (and stay connected to Him!) We become more connected to each other. If you are not sure where you should "plug in," contact anyone on the leadership team at The Chapel. We will be glad to help you "get connected," and you won't even need a modem!
