Who Are You?
When people ask us who we are, the answer is usually “teacher, salesman, mechanic, nurse,” etc. In other words, we answer who we are by describing what we do in this world to make an earthly living.
I would like to show you who I am, and maybe you will agree with my “definition.”
First, I am a Sinner Saved by Grace.
Ephesians 2:1 &
8, “As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sin. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-...”
Next, I am a Soldier in Christ’s Army.
2 Timothy
2:3-4, “Endure hardships with us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No one serving as a soldier gets involved in civilian affairs-- he wants to please his commanding officer.”
I am in Christ’s army to do His will and stand firm against our enemy, Satan. Christ is my strength, not things of this world. I don’t seek the gratitude of the world, rather the praises from above.
Last of all, I am a Servant of God.
1 Peter
4:10. “Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.” God wants me to serve Him by serving the people of this world. Notice that
1 Peter 4:10 did not say “if” you have a gift -- it was a command to use the gift given. We are here for a reason. I must be a willing tool for Christ. Just as He humbled himself to serve us, we must be as Christ and help the lost of this world.
It is my prayer that I (we) will never forget that we are sinners saved by grace, soldiers of Christ, and servants of a risen Savior and Lord.
In Christ,
Pat Jones
